NutriBrain

The NutriBrain technology transfer unit is specialized in the field of Nutrition and Neuroscience. Backed by the NutriNeuro laboratory, UMR INRAE-Bordeaux INP- Bordeaux University, its objective is to support industrial partners in demonstrating the impact of their molecules of interest (nutrients, foods, drug molecules) on brain functions and the prevention of mood and cognitive disorders.

Created in 2015, it is managed by ADERA, a subsidiary of the University of Bordeaux, and makes technological and scientific innovations developed at the heart of NutriNeuro, as part of research services or collaborative projects. Its objective is to provide scientific evidence to demonstrate the impact of nutrients, mix of nutrients or food on brain health, particularly during critical periods of life such as childhood or aging. Its role is to provide scientifically proven information to the industrial and ultimately to the consumer regarding the benefits of a product.
NutriBrain’s activities
Research and Development:
Nutribrain meets the needs of industrials by offering:
– technical services: bibliographic monitoring, dosages of peripheral and central biomarkers (inflammatory, hormonal, neurotransmitter markers, etc.),
– preclinical study protocols (animal models of human physiopathology, transgenic models, etc., animal models of human nutritional status such as deficiency, unbalanced diets, obesity, diabetes, etc.), control and qualification of nutritional status through diets and dosages, qualification of physiopathological status and its modifications, highlighting behavioral effects (on memory, mood, etc.) with behavioral tests validated by numerous publications and approved by the scientific community, understanding the mechanisms at play explaining the functional effects of nutrients,
– clinical study protocols (implementation of the clinical study: nutritional intervention, definition of population inclusion criteria, monitoring of nutritional status markers, monitoring of biomarkers linking nutrition and cognitive and emotional state, neuropsychiatric and cognitive assessments, type of population: pediatric population, elderly population, healthy adult population,
– collaborative research projects with local, national and international partners. These projects are part of programs aimed at impacting public health by proposing nutritional solutions for preventing brain health impairments in at-risk populations.
